Why Vatva's Chemical Units Outgrow Tally
Vatva is one of the oldest and largest MSME estates in Gujarat — set up in 1968, spread over roughly 527 hectares, and home to something in the order of 2,500 industrial units across four phases. Around 600 of them make dyes, dye intermediates and chemicals, which is what makes Vatva a different ERP problem from an engineering estate.
Chemical and dye manufacturing does not fit a piece-count system. Output is a batch, not a unit. Yield varies between batches of the same product. Input is measured by weight and consumed against a formulation rather than an assembly BOM. And the batch number has to stay attached to the material from raw input through processing to the drum that leaves the gate, because that is what a customer complaint or a regulatory query is answered with.
Tally records the invoice at the end of that chain and nothing before it. Excel holds the formulation until the person who wrote it is on leave. OEMup holds the whole chain: formulation BOM with expected yield, batch-wise material issue, batch traceability in both directions, and costing that reflects what a batch actually consumed rather than what it should have.
OEMup runs entirely on the cloud — no server, no local install, no IT team. Reach us on +91 63582 51676 or WhatsApp.
What Runs in Vatva GIDC
The estate is not one industry, and each part of it maps to a different capability:
Dyes & Intermediates
Formulation BOM with expected versus actual yield, batch-wise costing per kg. BOM management →
Speciality Chemicals
Batch traceability in both directions, from raw drum to despatch. Inventory & traceability →
Textile Processing
Job-lot tracking, process costing and reprocessing records. MRP & planning →
Engineering Units
Multi-level BOM and manufacturing orders for the estate's fabricators. Fabrication ERP →
GST for Chemical Despatch — Built In
Chemical despatch carries GST detail an accounting package handles badly. OEMup does it natively:
- HSN-wise GST invoices with correct CGST/SGST and IGST, per product grade.
- E-invoice IRN + QR in one click for buyers who will not accept anything else.
- E-way bills generated from the invoice — the norm for drum and tanker movement out of the estate. See e-way bill software →
- Job-work challans and ITC-04 where processing goes out to another unit in the estate. See job work & ITC-04 →
- GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B data ready for your CA. See GST invoicing →

Vatva Within the Ahmedabad Chemical Cluster
Vatva is the largest node of a chemical cluster that also runs through Naroda GIDC, where roughly four in five units make dyes and intermediates, and Odhav GIDC, which mixes chemical units with engineering and plastics. All three sit inside Ahmedabad and the wider Gujarat base.
