Leadership
OEMup is built by people who have spent more time in factories than in offices. Before writing a single line of code, the founding team made 80+ factory visits across 14 industries over nearly two years — auto components in Pune and Rajkot, plastics in Vadodara, pumps and motors in Coimbatore, fabrication and tool rooms in Ludhiana, food processing in Indore.
Komal Sonara
Komal leads product and the overall direction at OEMup. Before starting OEMup she spent two years walking the floors of Indian manufacturing SMEs, sitting with factory owners while they reconciled GSTR-1 against Tally exports and watching production supervisors track BOMs in three parallel Excel sheets. The product is a direct response to what she saw on those visits.
She writes about why OEMup exists in the founder's letter — including the morning in a Naroda auto-component factory that made the problem unmistakable.
Ayush Patel
Ayush leads engineering at OEMup. He owns the production data model — BOM, routings, work orders, WIP — and the GST e-invoice / e-way bill integrations that talk to the IRP and the GSTN portal. If a factory owner can post an invoice and watch the IRN come back in two seconds, that pipeline runs through Ayush's code.
He also writes the engineering deep-dives on the OEMup blog — how we modelled multi-level BOM, how we kept the IRP integration under 2-second p99 latency, and the design choices behind running an Indian SME ERP in the cloud.
Rakesh Soni
Rakesh leads delivery and customer success at OEMup. He owns the playbook that gets a new manufacturer live on OEMup within 1-3 days — data import, chart-of-accounts setup, BOM templating for the customer's industry, and the first-week handholding through the first GST return on the new system.
He writes the customer-onboarding and operations content on the OEMup blog — the "how a real factory actually adopts ERP" pieces drawn from running the launch onboardings for Alfa Pumps, Chemoro, Airmake, Innox and Orfom.

The Story So Far
OEMup did not begin with a product idea. It began with a question — why is software for Indian SMEs either too small for the factory, or too big for the budget? — that the founder kept asking after a single visit to an auto-component factory in Naroda, Ahmedabad.
That question turned into two years of fieldwork. The founding team did not bring a pitch deck. They brought a notebook and the same three questions to every factory: What does your day look like? What software do you use? Where does the day fall apart?
The answers were remarkably consistent. Almost every owner ran the same stack: Tally for accounts, an ageing biometric machine for attendance, a WhatsApp group with the production supervisor for shop-floor updates, and Excel — vast amounts of Excel — for everything in between. The Excel was where the BOM lived. The Excel was where the job-work challans lived. The Excel was where the actual production schedule lived.

That sentence stuck. The problem wasn't the absence of software. The problem was the gap between what the software thought was happening and what was actually happening on the floor. Decades of hard-working factory teams had built parallel ground-truth systems in Excel and on WhatsApp because the software they paid for didn't match the way they actually worked.
